S30 Phase 1

Now that I have the s30 in my own garage again, I can get it back on track.
Overview
I’m pretty much just reassembling the car for Phase 1.
Engine
The engine did not run, but a carb rebuild, tune, battery, and a timing job solved that problem. The clutch master cylinder was completely seized, so I tried installing an s130 master cylinder. That didn’t work out too well for a number of reasons, so I ordered a new master and slave. I still need to get ahold of some hard lines and a braided end adapter to try allow the clutch to engage.
Battery
The battery tray had some serious rust eating away at it, so I moved the battery behind the seats, between the storage trays. This will help even out the weight distribution and gives me a chance to properly sort out my switch panel.
Electrical
There were no headlights on it, so I replaced them and will need to rewire them. Since my ignition didn’t work and I don’t particularly like how it’s engineered, I’m running my own switches as controls for the electrical circuits. I’ve run some 0-gauge cable as my primary to the starter, and am running a 6-gauge ground wire the length of the car, along the interior passenger’s side.
Exhaust
The exhaust was missing several sections, so I traded the t3 turbo from my l28et for an exhaust and spare transmission (in case the current transmission does not work, for any reason).
Tires
I ordered a set of 205/60/14 Sumitomo H400′s for this low-budget portion of the build.
Interior
I purchased some seats for my CRX 2.0 project along with harnesses for a killer deal, and those will be going into the s30. Unfortunately, modifying the stock s30 seat rails is not an option, the lever action doesn’t fit between the bottom of the seat and the floor of the car. I’ll end up fabricating seat rails for it, hopefully getting the seats in just the right position for driving.
The passenger’s floor was also completely destroyed, so I removed the offending steel and will have to replace that before it sees the street again.
Conclusion
I have a lot of work ahead of me, but may have this ready to drive in the next month. There may be legal/registration issues, but I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.
